Resilience & Renewal Fellowship

Shaping the Next Generation of Thoughtful Leadership on Israel

Overview

The Resilience & Renewal Fellowship is a developing initiative of RenewingIsrael.org, designed to cultivate a new generation of leaders capable of engaging Israel—and the Jewish future—with depth, clarity, and intellectual seriousness.

In a time marked by fragmentation, distortion, and increasingly compressed discourse, the Fellowship seeks to restore something essential:

the capacity for thoughtful, grounded, and principled engagement.

It is not conceived as a conventional leadership programme.
It is an effort in intellectual formation.

Why This Fellowship Matters

In the aftermath of the October 7 attacks, a deeper challenge has come into focus.

Beyond immediate events lies a more enduring issue:

  • How Israel is understood
  • How Jewish identity is interpreted
  • How future leaders think about complexity, conflict, and continuity

Many emerging leaders today encounter these questions without the intellectual tools required to engage them meaningfully.

The result is not indifference—but uncertainty, fragmentation, and vulnerability to distortion.

The Resilience & Renewal Fellowship addresses this gap.

The Purpose

The Fellowship is designed to:

  • Develop intellectual depth and clarity in engaging Israel and Jewish identity
  • Strengthen the ability to navigate complex and contested environments
  • Cultivate leaders who think in civilisational, not purely reactive, terms
  • Rebuild a more serious and grounded intellectual culture around Israel

Who It Is For

The Fellowship will bring together a small, carefully selected cohort of:

  • Early- to mid-career professionals
  • Graduate students and emerging scholars
  • Community and civic leaders
  • Individuals engaged in education, policy, media, or cultural work

Participants will be drawn from across the UK, US, Israel, and the global Jewish diaspora.

Selection will prioritise:

  • Intellectual curiosity
  • Seriousness of purpose
  • Capacity for long-term leadership

The Fellowship is being designed as a structured, multi-layered experience combining:

1. Intellectual Seminars

Focused sessions exploring:

  • Israel’s historical and civilisational foundations
  • Jewish identity and continuity
  • Ethics, leadership, and responsibility
  • Contemporary challenges and global narratives

2. Guided Reading & Reflection

Participants will engage with:

  • Foundational texts
  • Contemporary essays
  • Structured reflection exercises

3. Writing & Idea Development

Fellows will be encouraged to:

  • Produce essays and reflections
  • Develop their own intellectual voice
  • Contribute to a growing body of serious work

4. Dialogue & Exchange

  • Small-group discussions
  • Cross-perspective engagement
  • Exposure to diverse viewpoints within a structured environment

5. Leadership Integration

Exploring how ideas translate into:

  • Professional contexts
  • Public engagement
  • Long-term leadership trajectories

A Distinctive Approach

The Fellowship differs from many existing programmes in three key ways:

1. Intellectual Depth Over Volume
It prioritises depth, reflection, and structured thinking over activity or scale.

2. Civilisational Perspective
It situates Israel within the broader context of Jewish history, identity, and continuity.

3. Long-Term Formation
It is designed not as a short-term experience, but as a formative stage in a participant’s intellectual and leadership development.

Long-Term Vision

Over time, the Fellowship is intended to:

  • Build a network of leaders capable of serious, independent thought
  • Contribute to a more coherent and grounded discourse on Israel
  • Strengthen the intellectual foundations of Jewish continuity and leadership
  • Serve as a bridge between ideas, institutions, and future influence
